After working in various sales roles I decided that I needed a change of career and decided that fitness was the way forward! I qualified as an aerobics instructor in 2001 and in 2002 started studying at the University of East London in 2002 for an Honours degree in Fitness and Health.
While at university I became interested in exercise psychology and the positive effects exercise has on mental well-being. During studies I took a part time job in mental health at a supported housing unit with a view to combining this experience to my work within the fitness industry.
After leaving university I worked for Oxleas NHS as a physical activities coordinator running the gym for the secure mental health wards and then as a PMVA (prevention and management of violence and aggression) tutor teaching NHS staff breakaways, restraints and conflict resolution. After my NHS contract ended I decided to a become a self employed personal trainer and fitness instructor. In 2017 I added sports massage to my qualifications for all-round fitness and recovery.
Now in my 50’s my focus is on helping those aged 50+ improve and maintain flexibility, stability and movement. I work with a diverse range of clients with a various health conditions including Parkinson’s, ankylosis spondylitis, dementia, diabetes and arthritis, as well as amputees and wheelchair users.
